First Snowfall
03:07
|
|

What a beautiful winter's day.
I met someone with the same first name as you.
Then her and I walked past a park.
We crossed a street and we realized,
it's getting dark so early.
And I didn't know when she turned down the alley,
it'd be the same one that you take when you're lost in your thoughts,
about the next time that you'll see me and the next time we'll kiss.
I stop and smile and she looks back in earnest.
First snowfall,
you're digging through these boxes,
for garlands and ornaments,
to hang on my tree.
You ask me about the story I told,
about a man who steals the warmth from all the hands that he holds.
This man lets each beautiful snowflake turn to ice on his lips.
He freezes history in songs to prove that he still exists.
It's not me.

Something Different

I know what this is all about now.
This all makes sense now.
It's not about the snow and lights.
It's not about the cold, cold nights.
It's not about the Christmas trees.
It's not about what you give to me.
It just means something different.
I just need something different.
It's not about what I can't see.
It's about you and me.
It's about the time I spend,
with all of my friends.
When landscapes look the same,
I know I can count on you to shake it up.
Yeah, shake it up!
And when I've had too much,
I want to put my arms around you,
all at the same time,
and tell you how much I love you.

Newdle Year
03:28

So this is my new year.
Where do you mark your year as over?
I've put it all behind me.
Can't even see December.
I know where you've been,
but it doesn't matter.
We're wiping these slates clean.
It doesn't matter.
I know where you've been,
but it doesn't matter.
We're wiping these slates clean,
that's all that matters.
So this is my new year.
Think I might mark it with the weather.
Imagine if we never changed,
how long that we could stay together.
I know where you've been.
It doesn't matter.
I've known all this time,
but it doesn't matter.
I know where you've been.
That doesn't matter.
So this is my new year.
One ceremony and it's over.
Imagine if we never changed our minds,
about each other.
I know where you've been.
It doesn't matter.
We're wiping these slates clean.
It doesn't matter.
It got so cold just in time to walk a thousand blocks with you.
There's no such thing as walking too far.
So this is my new year.
This is the new year.
