lyrics

What a beautiful winter's day.
I met someone with the same first name as you.
Then her and I walked past a park.
We crossed a street and we realized,
it's getting dark so early.

And I didn't know when she turned down the alley,
it'd be the same one that you take when you're lost in your thoughts,
about the next time that you'll see me and the next time we'll kiss.
I stop and smile and she looks back in earnest.

First snowfall,
you're digging through these boxes,
for garlands and ornaments,
to hang on my tree.

You ask me about the story I told,
about a man who steals the warmth from all the hands that he holds.
This man lets each beautiful snowflake turn to ice on his lips.
He freezes history in songs to prove that he still exists.
It's not me.
